Return Period

Our return policy extends for 30 days from the date of delivery. After this period has elapsed, we are unable to offer returns or exchanges. This policy is designed to protect both our customers and our rare book collection while ensuring sufficient time for thorough inspection of purchased items.

Eligible Returns

We accept returns on items that meet the following criteria:

• Items shipped directly from The Manuscript
• Items that are materially different from their description on our website
• Items that have been incorrectly shipped
• Items with verifiable quality issues not disclosed in the original listing

All returns must be accompanied by:

• Original proof of purchase
• Detailed explanation of the return reason
• All original packaging and accompanying materials

Non-Returnable Items

Certain items cannot be returned due to their nature:

• Custom-ordered or specially sourced rare books
• Books that have been damaged after delivery
• Conservation and restoration services that have been completed
• Special order items specifically acquired for a customer
• Items marked as "Final Sale" or "Non-Returnable"

Return Process

1. Contact us at ask@the-manuscript.com to initiate the return process
2. Receive return authorization and shipping instructions
3. Package the item securely using appropriate materials for rare books
4. Ship the item to our Ottawa location with tracking and insurance
5. Include all required documentation in the package

Refund Process

Once we receive your return:

• We will inspect the item within 2-3 business days
• You will receive an email confirming receipt and inspection results
• Approved refunds will be processed to your original payment method
• Refund processing typically takes 5-10 business days
• International refunds may require additional processing time

Shipping Costs

Please note the following regarding shipping costs:

• Original shipping charges are non-refundable
• Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer
• For items returned due to our error, we will reimburse return shipping costs
